The goofy Danny Pieters is called to serve in the Dutch army. There, he is often fooled by his fellow soldiers, especially by Toon, but the two quickly become good friends. The boys often drink in a nearby pub, where Danny falls in love with the girl with the blue hat. This lady called Betsy and Danny wants to engage her soon, but Betsy prefers to be a good friend and not just for him, but for the whole company.
