Terra Nostra is an unforgettable romantic story of Matheu and Juliana, two young dreamers who meet on a trasatlantic voyage from Italy to the New World, and fall hopelessly in love. The young Italian couple, traveling on a ship carrying hundreds of their fellow countrymen from Italy to America in search of a better future working on coffee plantations in Brazil. During the voyage, the plague breaks out on board ship, taking the life of Juliana's parents. As she struggles to recover from this terrible tragedy, she is consoled and comforted by Matheu until he too is infected by the plague and nearly dies. The selfless Juliana spends long days and nights at the side of her ailing lover until he recovers. Before arriving in Brazil, Matheu and Juliana spend a passionate night together bathed in starlight, where they promise each other never to part ways. But destiny plays a dirty trick on them, separating the lovers when they disembark at Santos, Sao Paulo.
