The original Price Is Right had two versions: a daytime version that aired five times a week and a weekly primetime version. The daytime version started in 1956 and ended in 1965; the nighttime version started in 1957 and ended in 1964. Both were a half-hour show hosted by Bill Cullen that aired on NBC until 1963, when the series began airing on ABC. While the series was broadcast in color while on NBC, the ABC version was black and white. The nighttime version was ranked eighth in the Nielsen ratings for two years in a row (1959-1960 season and the 1960-1961 season).
