"X – A People’s History" is a decade-by-decade capsule outlining the history of sex in the popular imagination of North America since 1950. This one-hour special is a fast-moving look at a half-century’s worth of shifting attitudes about beauty, immorality, love and lust, as it was represented by the sexual icons of the 50’s, the 60’s, the 70’s, the 80’s, the 90’s and beyond.

Told with an emphasis on great characters and individuals who shaped our vision of what’s right and what’s wrong, what’s hot and what’s not, every episode introduces a dizzying array of pioneers, prudes, idealists, artists, sex workers, scholars, fetishists and freethinkers. "X – A People’s History" traces the evolution of our culture’s beliefs over fifty years, as generation after generation develops its own sensibility about beauty, gender, taboo, queerness, pornography, sex work and other common threads.
