Born down around the old panhandle,
Texas is where he grew to fame.
There ain't a horse that he can't handle,
That's how he got his name.

(Chorus)
Bronco, Bronco,
Tearin' across the Texas plain.
Bronco, Bronco,
Bronco Layne.

Next to a foursquare Texas twister,
You'd call a cyclone meek and mild.
You've never seen a twister, mister,
'Til someone gets him riled.

Show me a gal who's kissed him once,
I'll show you a gal who's kissed him twice.
Once any gal has kissed him twice,
She's dreamin' of shoes and rice.

Ty Hardin starred as Bronco Layne in this show about a former Confederate army captain seeking his fortune in the West. Bronco was created by Warner Brothers when Cheyenne star Clint Walker walked out when a contract dispute arose and remained away from the Warner Studios until the dispute was settled.

Initially, the fledgling Bronco alternated with Cheyenne reruns during the 1958-1959 season but upon Walker's return to Warner Brothers, Cheyenne resumed production and Bronco -- considered a successful show by studio execs -- was accorded its own season and time slot.

Bronco was a popular show in its day and holds up very well in reruns due largely to its quality production in the Warner's tradition and the undeniable attractiveness of its star. The show generated comic books, games, western gear, and other merchandise for boys. The show may be viewed in reruns on some channels; check your tv listings.
