Bull Island was an Irish comedy sketch show broadcast on RTÉ One from 1999 to 2001. It satirised many of the leading politicians and figures in Ireland of the day, including the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, his cabinet, his (now ex-)lover Celia Larkin and Mary O'Rourke. The latter two were both played by a man, Frank Twomey. While the satire was often biting, it was mild in comparison to many other similar shows. It was cancelled to December 2001 due to declining ratings. It sparked some small controversary in Ireland during its run.
