Date Patrol

For all of those frogs out there that want to be princes, for all of those Cinderellas who long to go to the ball, take heart -- there is hope. "DATE PATROL" sics a crack team of relationship coaches on one person -- previously unlucky in love -- in the hopes of turning them into a great dating package. "DATE PATROL", a 13-episode series, premieres on Saturday, September 20, 2003 from 10-11 PM ET/PT. Led by host Peggy Bunker, the "DATE PATROL" is comprised of three coaches, each in charge of resolving a particular dating dilemma:

* Stephanie Raye is the ace communications expert and chat queen who helps daters improve their conversation skills;
* Mark Edgar Stephens is a body language pro who instructs daters on non-verbal communication;
* Terrence Charles is a style guru who takes the stress out of shopping
and dresses daters to feel confident, comfortable and sexy.

The transformation period is only four weeks, so the team has no time to spare. First, the subject goes on a "demo date" with someone the "DATE PATROL" has carefully selected. With microphones recording every word and hidden cameras catching every move (or misstep!) from the "DATE PATROL" surveillance van, the expert seduction squad watches for verbal and visual clues that explain why their subject is a flirting flop.

With the real date deadline looming, the "DATE PATROL" kicks into high gear, instructing the dater on spotting and sending body language cues, keeping the conversation going with interesting remarks or comments and revamping the would-be-dater's wardrobe and look. Participants are placed in real-life social situations in order to hone their skills -- from complimenting strangers in grocery stores to delivering stand-up comedy and even performing special facial exercises to help them smile.

At the end of the four weeks, the "DATE PATROL" sends the dater off on their own to try out their new attitude and look. Their mission: set up at least one date. When the big day arrives, the "DATE PATROL" watches from the surveillance van to see if their little fledgling dater has learned to fly. If the date isn't going well, they'll pull the dater aside and offer pointers. If the date goes well, participants can press a button to stop the filming and continue on in private.
