Gus Lloyd (James Calvert), a scientist and game designer, creates a video game which takes on a life of it own, when a lab experiment brings the boss villain and his minions into the real world to enact their evil schemes. Now Gus, his ex-wife Lauren (Cynthia Gibb), and his friend Peter Rucker (Stephen T. Kay), must defeat each henchman and work their way through the "game" to defeat the boss villain, Jackal (Christopher Lloyd).
