Doc Elliot

James Franciscus as Ben Elliot is not the usual kind of video medic, seemingly able to solve all problems, including the malady of the week.
In some ways, actually, Ben Elliot is a modern counterpart of his pioneer medical predecessors. His patients live in a 640-square mile, sparsely settled area of Colorado. Years ago doctors visited their patients in such areas on horseback, or via horse-drawn buggy. Ben Elliot makes his rounds in a modern, well-equipped camper truck, including a radio making him available wherever he might be.
While "Doc Elliot," of course, has to deal with assorted ailments, this series is different because its basic premise is Ben's relationships with those who cross his path, their sorrows, their triumphs.
This is why Doc chose this remote, wild country for his practice. This is why he abandoned a successful, lucrative New York office. Apart from the discomforts of big city life, Ben Elliot had become totally disenchanted with the impersonal, high pressure course of a metropolitan medical career. Important to the series is Ben Elliot's radio-equipped medical camper which holds all the equipment needed for emergency treatment and which serves as his headquarters while he is on the road.
"Doc Elliot" was filmed at Burbank Studios and on location in a remote area of California's Tehachapi Mountains. Also starring in the series are Neva Patterson as Elliot's housekeeper, Noah Beery as general storekeeper and Bo Hopkins as a helicopter pilot who figures prominently in helping to shrink the vast territory Ben Elliot serves and in aiding the doctor to meet emergencies.
