ESPN E60 celebrates the life and legacy of Michael Cammarata, the only player whose number has been retired at the LLWS and the youngest member of the Fire Department of the City of New York ever to die in the line of duty.

Michael Cammarata was the starting right fielder for the Staten Island team that went all the way to the U.S. championship game at the 1991 Little League World Series. A decade later, as a 22-year-old New York City firefighter, he was among the 343 firefighters and the nearly 3,000 people killed in the Sept. 11 attacks. 

From the basketball courts of Australia to the top of the NBA Draft, Simmons' rise was as sudden as it was spectacular. Once an unknown young player in Melbourne, Simmons became the No. 1 overall pick and quickly emerged as one of the league's most dynamic talents as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers – the centerpiece of a franchise with championship expectations.

But in Game 7 of the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals against the Atlanta Hawks, Simmons passed up an open dunk in a defining moment that became a symbol of his unraveling—and sent his career on a dramatic downward turn.

In a nation that has long excelled in the world of distance running, there is a growing epidemic of gender-based violence against Kenya's female stars. Four runners were murdered in the African nation in just three years, each allegedly targeted by their partners after financial disputes.

E60 investigates the escalating threat through the heartbreaking stories of two runners whose speed and strength put them at risk. As the film examines the cultural, economic, and systemic forces behind these tragedies, it also follows a rising star and the team working to protect her from a similar fate. Ultimately, Still They Run poses an urgent question: when success puts women in danger, who is responsible for keeping them safe?
