Ellis Island

“Ellis Island” was to be a tribute to all the immigrants that came to the U.S. from Europe hoping for a better life between the 1800’s and the start of the Word War I. It aired on “CBS” over a 3 night period in November 1984 with each episode being 120 minutes in length. This mini-series concentrated on 2 couples who have come to New York City to follow their dream. The characters are sisters “Bridget O’Donnell” played by Actress “Alice Krige” and “Georgiana 'Georgie' O'Donnell” played by Actress “Judi Bowker”, “”Jacob Rubinstein” a Russian Jew played by “Peter Riegert” and "Marco Santorelli" who is an Italian Immigrant played by “Gregory Paul Martin”. Marco had been a gardener for famous Actress “Faye Dunaway” who plays “Maud Charteris” and Jacob wants to become a well-known and popular Composer. On the cruise from Europe to the Big Apple Marco spies Georgie on the ship and he falls in Love with her.

During the 3 nights of this Mini-series they 4 run across many different people and have to figure out how to handle different situations. Some of the more well known stars that appear in the series are "Ann Jillian", “Ben Vereen”, “Emma Samms”, “Liam Neeson”, “Melba Moore”and “Sir Richard Burton”[/b ]who appears in his final performance of his long storied career before his death this same year and he plays “Senator Phipps Ogden”.
