Manuel cannot forgive María for hiding her doubts about her future paternity from him and he leaves to resolve the other conflict, that of her disputed land that Claudia claims. Guillermo tries to approach Custodio, but he rejects him with contempt. but at night, and without saying a word, he throws himself into Guillermo's arms. Manuel goes to Madrid in search of a lawyer and a job in case he loses the farm. He reminds Maria that he must continue paying her debt.
