Dries Rustenburg, director of the local sugar factory, is in conflict with his rival Campers, who wants take over the factory. The President of the governing board, André Hageman, sees something in the take-over and closes a pact with Campers to disband Dries as a director. Thereby using Mary, the wife of Dries, with whom Hageman has an affair. Campers and Hageman will do anything to take over the factory, even blackmail and assassination…
