Police Constable Fogg is in danger of being drummed out of the force because he never solves any crimes. Then, when a mini-crimewave breaks out, he finds that he can - with the assistance of his dog, a mournful-faced Basset-hound named Parry, who, when they nap together, dreams the solutions and transfers them into Fogg's mind.
