The Holiday Bowl is a post-season NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game that has been played annually since 1978 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California, United States. Since the 2014 edition, it has featured Pacific-12 and Big Ten teams. The Holiday Bowl was founded to give the Western Athletic Conference an automatic bowl bid after the Fiesta Bowl, which previously had a tie in with the game, ended its association with the WAC after Arizona and Arizona State (the latter of which served as the game's host) left the conference to join the Pacific-8 Conference in 1977. Thus, the Holiday Bowl inherited the Fiesta Bowl's former WAC ties and gave the conference's champion its automatic bid. For the first several years, the WAC champion played an at-large team in the Holiday Bowl. Beginning in 1986 and continuing until 1994, the Big Ten Conference was given the second bid provided it had enough bowl eligible teams.

S2021E1 - 2021 Holiday Bowl: UCLA (8-4) vs. NC State (9-3)
The Bruins (8-4) match up with the No. 18 Wolfpack (9-3) in the Holiday Bowl from San Diego. UCLA dropped its only appearance in this contest 49-26 to Baylor in 2012. Devin Leary (NCST) threw 35 touchdown passes to only five interceptions in 2021.

S2022E1 - 2022 Holiday Bowl: North Carolina vs. #15 Oregon

The No. 15 Ducks play Drake Maye's Tar Heels in the Holiday Bowl. North Carolina fell to then-No. 9 Clemson in the ACC championship game. Maye passed for 4,115 yards and 35 TDs this season. Oregon won the Holiday Bowl in 2000, and again in 2008.

No. 15 Louisville plays USC in the Holiday Bowl. Jeff Brohm guided the Cardinals to a 10-3 record and the ACC title game in his first year at the helm. Trojans star Caleb Williams, the projected No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, opted out of this contest.
