This two-part mini-series begins with Edinburgh police detective Brendan McCann's death at the hands of his partner Joe Geddes and fellow-detective Frank Agnew after Geddes tells Agnew that his girlfriend has been murdered by McCann. Agnew is then assigned the task of investigating McCann's death. He must appear to do so, protecting himself and Geddes at the same time. As the investigation reveals disturbing truths about McCann's partnership with Geddes, Agnew begins to question his own role in McCann's demise. Did McCann really kill Agnew's girlfriend, or has Geddes play him for a fool? Is Agnew's girlfriend even dead, or has she just disappeared?
