Marinara

On 23 February 2004 the ABS-CBN network debuted the series “Marina” and on 14 June 2004 the GMA network countered with their own version of the mermaid story titled “Marinara” . Some of the differences included the length of the show, which was 30 minutes long on ABS-CBN, and the GMA network’s version was 60 minutes long. The ABS-CBN version had a normal 7-year old girl transform into a mermaid but GMA’s version began with a mermaid already. This version centers on triplets Aria who is a spoiled brat, Marie who is shy and conservative and Dolphina who is born a mermaid. Actress Rufa Mae Quinto plays all three girls. The three girls are separated at birth and Dolphina emerges from the ocean to seek her other two sisters but is captured by the townspeople.
