A man is brutally beaten with a suspected knuckle duster in his own home in Hull and later dies in hospital, launching an intense and urgent murder inquiry. A young woman who called the ambulance is arrested - but is she responsible or a crucial witness? In the first of two episodes, can the murder detectives unravel the truth from the lies and nail the killer?

In Hull, three men are suspected of murdering 49-year-old Jonathan Hutty after he is beaten to death in his own home. Can detectives overcome a major setback to the investigation and nail the killer? We follow the case as the hours and minutes tick by. How will the suspects react when confronted with the evidence in the interview room? Will one betray the other two, and what lies behind the apparently senseless killing - robbery or revenge? In Hull, a vulnerable man is violently attacked in his own home and left for dead after his assailant sets fire to his flat. Emergency services rush to the scene, and firefighters pull the 54-year-old man from the inferno. The victim is in a critical condition and shows obvious signs of assault. With his life hanging in the balance, the case is escalated to Humberside Major Crime's Team. CCTV identifies a suspect arriving at the crime scene and leaving just before a passerby spots flames and smoke billowing from the same flat. During the ensuing search for the suspect, investigators uncover an audio recording where a voice, believed to be the attacker, taunts, 'enjoy the fire'. But who is the perpetrator, where is he, and what drove him to kill?
