My First Place

My First Place, featuring host Jill Cordes, captures the stress, thrills, challenges and excitement of people who have waited a lifetime for a place to call their own. Each episode highlights the personal stories of house poor first-time homeowners. The featured couples, families or individuals meet with a local designer who, armed with a $3,000 design budget, provides the emotional support and design expertise needed to help turn a house into a home.

Our new, reformatted My First Place (starting with the Season 6) follows the journey of real-life first-time buyers through the trials and tribulations of finding and financing their first place.

Each episode features a set of first-timers and their realtor along the stress-filled journey, including the exciting search for the perfect home, learning the pitfalls of financing, the best bidding strategies and how to survive the home inspection. Their journey ends in the emotional culmination of homeownership — or sometimes not. Inevitably there's a compromise to reach closing on a new home for the first time. (Source: HGTV)
