Former city policeman Hauke Jacobs wants to start over as a veterinarian in the sleepy Baltic Sea town of Schwanitz. Unfortunately, mysterious crimes thwart his plans again and again - much to the delight of gripping policewoman Lona Vogt and the veterinary assistant with investigative ambitions Jule Christiansen, who are only too happy to get out of the daily grind in the province.
