North East Tonight is the flagship news programme from Tyne Tees Television. Broadcast each weekday at 6pm on ITV1 Tyne Tees, the programme is usually presented by the veteran anchorman, Mike Neville. Produced from Television House in Gateshead, the programme covers news stories from across the North East and North Yorkshire in the UK. Newsrooms are also based in Sunderland, York, Billingham and London. Two separate editions are currently broadcast: North (Pontop Pike transmitter - Presented by Jonathan Morrell and Pam Royle) and South (Bilsdale transmitter - Presented by Andy Cluz and Kim Inglis). Presenters include Kim Inglis, Jonathan Morrell, Claire Montgomary, Pam Royle, and Mark Warr. Senior reporters include Luke Casey, Andy Cluz and Political Editor, Gerry Folley. Sports reports from Simon O'Rouke, Dawn Thewlis and Kenny Toal. Weather is presented by another North East institution, Bob Johnson, though the weather team at YTV deputise when Bob isn't available (i.e. weekends, illness or holidays). During Summer 2005, Mike Neville was rushed to hospital following a blood clot. This has meant a prolonged absence from screen and has ended a run of over 40 years almost continuous broadcasting by the anchorman. In June 2006 it was announced that Mike would be retiring from his role as main presenter, bringing the curtain down on 40 years of presenting.
