The sinister discovery of numerous murder victims shocks the Oderbruch region. The serial murder case brings Detective Roland Voit to his hometown to work with Polish police officer Stanislaw Zajak. Voit's former colleague and childhood sweetheart, Maggie Kring, is also called in to join the police investigation when her family comes under immediate suspicion. In their investigation, Maggie and Voit delve deep into their own past to finally uncover the true circumstances of the death of Maggie's brother and the sinister truth of this case, which lies beyond human imagination.

S1E1 - Alte Geister
Two anglers discover a pile of corpses in a field near the polish border. The unimaginably high number of skeletons and animal carcasses leads the police to suspect a serial killer who has apparently been killing undetected for decades. Local detective inspector Roland Voit (Felix Kramer) is assigned to support the large LKA contingent in the Oderbruch. His former childhood sweetheart, former policewoman Maggie Kring (Karoline Schuch), is also called to her home town of Krewlow. After years of silence, Maggie and Roland are anything but impartial. Maggie is following her own investigations. She left Krewlow in 1997 after her brother became a victim of the historic Oder flood at the age of 17. The ex-policewoman doubts everything she knows - including the death of her brother Kai.

S1E2 - Pulver
The large LKA contingent is looking for a serial killer in Krewlow and hopes to get a clue from the only survivor who was found on the mountain of corpses. However, the seriously injured man is unresponsive. For the village doctor Frank Seeger it is clear that "Powder Paul" is behind the bloody deeds. The gun-crazy hermit barricades himself in his farm and obsessively believes that he has to defend himself against overwhelming enemies. When Roland Voit and Stanislaw Zajak want to question him, a life-threatening confrontation occurs. Meanwhile, Maggie stays with Adrian Demko, her childhood friend who uses a wheelchair. She is convinced that the key to the Oderbruch serial murders lies in their shared past.

S1E3 - Blindgänger
In a mysterious vault below the mountain of corpses, the police units not only discover more bones, but also a water glass with leeches. The seemingly insignificant find awakens the memory of Kai, Maggie's missing brother, in Roland Voit and Maggie Kring. Kai was an extraordinary, mysterious boy. Maggie simply cannot and does not want to believe that he is no longer alive and now hopes to have found proof of this. She asks Adrian Demko for support. Adrian has been in a wheelchair since a terrible accident in her youth, in which an unexploded bomb from the Second World War exploded. He instructs his carer Marek Gorski to accompany Maggie on a trip across the border to Poland. The trail leads the two to a mysterious building in the border area - there an assassination attempt is carried out on Maggie.

S1E4 - Flut
Poland, summer 1990. Ten-year-old Kai was brought to safety by his mother Minna with Polish friends. His father Arthur wants to kill him because he suspects that Kai has unwholesome tendencies. His sister Maggie fearlessly stands up for Kai and has to protect him from other children. On the way to school there is an argument in which the leader Conradi is seriously injured and Maggie becomes unconscious. Kai swears to his father that he will never tell Maggie the truth about himself. A scary man (Liliom Lewald) also knows that the introverted boy is special. He visits Kai and offers him to live with his "real" family.

S1E5 - Blutlinie
Maggie was right: Kai is alive. The siblings hide together in the abandoned forest hut. Kai's confession that he has killed a lot of people upsets Maggie, as does his explanation, which seems almost unimaginable. After an attempted murder, both are in constant danger. Maggie turns to Voit - without revealing to him that her brother is alive or revealing anything about his involvement in the series of crimes. Meanwhile, Voit's colleague Zajak deciphers a mysterious document that the survivor from the mountain of corpses left behind before his death. On the Polish side, the student Ilona makes a scary discovery. Something is wrong in the isolated boarding school for street children and runaways. Blood donations are mandatory, girls disappear and scary men come and go.

Kai can't live with his guilt and wants to shoot himself. Maggie saves him at the last second. She wants to give her brother the chance to work together to find those behind the unimaginable acts and to make amends for something like that. In order to stop the series of crimes, the ex-policewoman goes in search of the key figure: the "Great Hunter". A trail leads to 1947. At that time, two men were suspected of having committed gruesome murders. One of the suspects was Maggie's now over 90-year-old father Arthur, the other disappeared a long time ago. Together with Roland, Maggie uncovers a disturbing family secret.

Maggie Kring and Kai travel to the Carpathians. There the siblings try to find out who the mysterious man is who came to the Oderbruch with their father in 1947 as a former war deserter. In Romania, however, they initially encounter a wall of silence. Roland Voit follows Maggie's trail - even though he was suspended from the case. He discovers the body of a murdered teenager in the forest hut. When his Polish colleague Stanislaw Zajak tracks him down, Voit has no choice: he has to play with open cards. Zajak confides in him a theory about similar unsolved and mysterious murder cases in other countries, forcing Voit to help find Kai.

The SoKo Krewlow is hunting down Marek Gorski, who has gone into hiding. However, a deadly trap awaits the emergency services in his trailer. Meanwhile, shadowy men have taken control of the Polish boarding school. The student Ilona fears for her life. While escaping, she discovers a mysterious prisoner. He promises help if Ilona frees him. Roland Voit is certain: There must be several perpetrators. When Gorski demands money from Demko for his escape, the police drive to a remote handover point. However, Maggie Kring and Voit see through the ruse. A fight for life and death begins with the "Great Hunter", in which Maggie surpasses herself - and makes a fatal decision.

In the no man's land of "Terra Azul," the baby of an enslaved servant is born in a mysterious mountain monastery of the Strigoi. But once again, this does not fulfill the hope of the ruler Ion (Martin Feifel) to ensure the survival of the vampires, because the baby is human and therefore useless to the Strigoi. In order to get Maggie (Karoline Schuch) into his power, Ion's son Quito (Sabin Tambrea) sets a trap for her: he sends his assistant Delgado (Remo Trajano) to the Krings' next target: Cristóbal (Miguel Álvarez), the "Great Hunter" living in Spain, who kidnaps tourists to get fresh blood. Kai (Julius Gause) has no idea of his sister's real reason for her journey: Maggie wants to see her daughter Vera (Emily Kusche), at least from a distance! To get money, they rob a betting shop. However, the plan goes wrong – and puts both of them in danger.

Terra Azul: The cunning abbot Fedor (Robert Dölle) learns of Quito's (Sabin Tambrea) secret intentions at the Strigoi monastery. Quito wants to seize power as soon as he has Maggie (Karoline Schuch) in his power. Fedor forces Quito's loyal servant (Sina Martens) to let him in on the plans. Meanwhile, Maggie's thirst for blood develops into an insatiable addiction that she can hardly control. Her brother Kai (Julius Gause) urges her to eliminate the hunter Cristóbal (Miguel Álvarez) before his captive "blood donors" die. Zajak (Lucas Gregorowicz) manages to gain Vera's (Emily Kusche) trust. He wants to use a trick to find out for sure whether she carries the same secret as her mother. Meanwhile, Maggie learns that the Strigoi know about her daughter, who is now in grave danger.

Maggie and Kai (Julius Gause) receive a farewell letter from their dead parents. They learn the whereabouts of Vera's (Emily Kusche) grandmother, Veronika (Daphna Rosenthal), who disappeared without a trace 40 years ago. Hoping to hide with her, Maggie and Vera set off for Andorra with Zajak (Lucas Gregorowicz). Meanwhile, Vera is struggling with her new life. No one suspects that they are in a trap set by Quito.
