Remembrance Sunday: The Cenotaph

The two-minute silence at 11am is followed by wreath-laying at the foot of the Cenotaph as the nation remembers all those who died serving their country.

The march-past of veterans returns, and members of the public are once again be able to attend the event. Last year, for the first time, the service was a closed ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic.

His Majesty will be joined on Whitehall by other members of the royal family and representatives of the government, the armed forces, the Commonwealth and faith communities for the two-minute silence at 11 o'clock and the National Service of Remembrance. This is followed by wreath-laying as the nation remembers all those who died serving their country.

Nearly 10,000 veterans are expected to take part in the historic march-past. Sophie Raworth is on Horse Guards to hear from those marching as they share their own remarkable stories of courage and sacrifice.
