Kate Patrick (Yancy Butler) is a thief who is given an ultimatum to either go to jail or work as an agent for a government agency. Along with her partner in crime, Vernon (Eagle Eye Cherry), they meet Roberts (John Glover), leader of the agency. They together, complete assignments asked of Roberts to avoid going to jail.
Created by Dick Wolf and Robert DeLaurentis, 'South Beach' lasted 7 episodes (6 of which were aired) before getting canceled. As a summer series it was unable to withstand the cut and was viewed as a modesty blaise-inspired storyline.
