Survivor (Israel)

Survivor makes its’ way to Israel as one of 22 countries so far to air its’ own version of this very popular reality show. “Survivor (Israel)” also called “Survivor 10” with the number representing the station number that broadcasts this show in Israel. “Survivor (Israel)” began its’ very first season on 15 December 2007. The series was shot on location in the Dominican Republic in June and July of 2007. The 1st season is subtitled “Survivor 10: The Caribbean” and it began with 20 contestants or survivors in the series. The series is set to end on 17 May 2008 and it has already been announced that there will be a 2nd season of the show. Representatives of channel 10 have already visited 2 possible locations for season 2 in Africa and Columbia.

The major difference between “Survivor (US)” and “Survivor (Israel)” is the US version tapes over 39 days and the Israeli version taped for 52 days for season 1. Also the US version airs over 13 episodes and the Israeli version is set to air a total of 40 episodes. The last major difference is the US version airs every Thursday night but the Israeli version airs 2 episodes every week. The grand prize on this version is 1,000,000 NIS (as of 14 March 2008 that amount equals to $ 290,697.66 in US dollars). The winner also receives a 2008 landrover vehicle.
