The John Gary Show

“The John Gary Show” was a musical variety show starring actor and singer "John Gary" . It was a summer replacement for “The Danny Kaye Show” on "CBS" at 9:30 PM on Wednesday nights. It was also a way to let "CBS" test the waters to see if the show had a big enough viewership to bring it back as a regular series beginning in 1967. The show was an unusual 90 minutes long and it premiered on 22 June 1966. The show was a combination of comedy skits and singers performing some of their hit songs. The show was taped live in front of a studio audience and aired for 13 weeks. Even though the show was not picked up by CBS his show returned to the air in 1968 in syndication. He taped a total of 26 shows this time between California and Florida and another 13 shows were recorded at the "Studio 44" set on the "CBS Television City" studios.
