The Outdoor Room

Setting off on a quest for inspiration and knowledge, Jamie travelled the globe to countries such as England, Japan, Italy, France, Mexico, South Africa and more – drawing design inspiration from each country’s distinctive culture and transforming his knowledge and ideas into a stunning collection of unique gardens for the Australian backyard.

Each week, one lucky family had their backyard transformed from an under-utlilised lifeless space to a stunning outdoor room that was enriched by the culture and design elements of the country that inspired its creation.

The Outdoor Room not only explained how each garden was created by Jamie and the team, but also educated audiences on the art of cooking with top Australian chefs creating mouth-watering dishes inspired by each country – including Neil Perry’s Thai barbecue chicken, Luke Mangan’s Japanese-style seared tuna, and Tobie Puttock’s Italian porchetta, among others.

From an English cottage-style garden, to a Balinese pavilion, to an Italian villa with an array of dishes that tantalised your tastebuds, The Outdoor Room both inspired and educated as it took audiences on an exciting journey around the world and back home again.
