Contestants tried to answer five questions in their specialty from a panel of experts. If successful, they then fielded stumpers from viewers for a shot at $100,000. Following the 1950s quiz-show scandals, this marked the return of a prime-time quiz with a big cash payout. Neither the money nor the gimmick of a soundproof bubble (in place of an isolation booth) helped, and `100 Grand' didn't last 30 days; it was canceled after three shows.
