A Dutch travelling program exploring our beautiful world.
Jurre Geluk embarks on a long journey through Brazil, a country where rhythm, drums, and movement define daily life. He begins in Rio de Janeiro and, after visiting the iconic beach, delves into the elevated and vibrant Morro da Babilônia neighborhood. He also attends a roda de samba: an intimate circle of samba musicians, in this case, all women. Finally, Jurre learns the passinho, a dance that is making a global impression on the new generation.
Max Terpstra visits the Italian island of Sardinia. A beloved beach destination, Max ventures inland to experience authentic Sardinian life. He encounters centuries-old Sardinian traditions, such as the unique singing style of canto a tenore. The village of Orotelli holds special significance for Max, as this is where his father was born. After a quest, Max meets some family members. He concludes his journey with a shepherd, where he tastes the island's delicacy: Casu Marzu, or cheese infested with rotten maggots.
Raïsha Zeegelaar travels through Scotland, a place where age-old traditions are instilled in her from birth, but also given a new twist. Her first stop is the vibrant capital, Edinburgh, where she finds herself in the heart of the cultural celebration: Edinburgh Carnival. Then she delves into the world of the iconic kilt and concludes her visit with a personal serenade from a female bagpiper.
Chris Zegers travels through the Philippines, where indigenous cultures and traditions shape the Filipino identity. He travels via the capital, Manila, to the summer capital, Baguio, where he visits an artists' village. He then continues through the Cordillera Mountains, where he meets the Ifugao community. Chris hikes along the famous rice terraces of Batad, ending at the Tippaya Waterfall.
