Ål folkehøyskole is not like other schools. Over the course of a year, we follow pupils and teachers at a school where it is not allowed to use the voice in common areas.
New school and great expectations. Deaf and hearing students arrive at the school, and for Hilde it becomes a confusing encounter with a new language.
Elisa gives the family a real surprise when she makes a choice that is not so easy to regret.
How big are the chances of finding love when you are deaf, gay and moving to the village? Or - when you go to folk high school?
How do you make new friends, and how do you keep old ones? Pia and Hedda travel to Ålesund to visit Elisa during the autumn holidays.

During the school trip to Iceland, Gunnar visits his old school. Coming back stirs up strong feelings that he thought he had outgrown.
