Set in a fictional country called Daeho that does not exist in history or on maps, it is about the love and growth of young mages as they overcome their twisted fates due to a magic spell known as the "alchemy of souls", which allows souls to switch bodies. It follows the story of an elite assassin named Naksu, whose soul is accidentally trapped inside the weak body of Moo Duk—Jang Wook's servant from a powerful and noble family in the country. The young master of the Jang Family, Jang Wook, holds a dark secret about his scandalous birth. He wants the formidable assassin to help change his destiny.
Nak Soo casts one last spell to save her soul. Jang Wook looks for the only sorcerer who would dare to help him. Moo Duk gets taken under a new master.
When Moo Duk refuses Wook's proposal to form an alliance, he convinces her in other ways. Park Jin barricades Songrim to catch a spy.
Moo Duk sets the terms before beginning proper training. Wook discovers that Heo Yum left him with a gift he must learn to claim as his own.
Wook suffers a fever and chills, much to Moo Duk's delight. The Crown Prince visits the Jang household, demanding a family heirloom and a show of respect.

An unusual death draws Park Jin's attention. Wook learns of Naksu's tragic past. Maid Kim sends Moo Duk on an errand to Cheonbugwan.
A sudden lightning strike causes damage to Cheonbugwan. Park Jin and Jin Mu dispute who's to blame. Master Lee takes Uk on a special fishing trip.
Wook faces his tenth and final opponent with a trick or two up his sleeve. Seo Yul keeps Moo Duk close. Jin Woo Tak plays a trick on his daughter.
Moo Duk is caught at the site of a bloody murder. Master Lee presents the royal family with a gift and a prophecy. So I tracks down a blind friend.
Park Jin and Jin Ho Kyung get into a heated dispute as they both lay claim to an artifact. Wook runs into the Prince while on the search for a shaman.
Moo Duk investigates Jin Bu Yun's true identity. Jin Mu convinces Jin Ho Kyung to make a special announcement at an important assembly.
Trapped inside an enchanted force field, Moo Duk explores her newfound powers but soon learns of its drawbacks. So I makes a deal with a soul shifter.
It is revealed to all the world that the queen's identity was the family of Dangol's Choi. Wook puts all of her own skills in a dangerous attempt to break the barrier of her ice stone. And then, Jang Gang, the beginning of everything, appears in the pine forest...
Love is in the air with a wedding on the way and Wook playing matchmaker. Jin Mu appoints an assassin to do his dirty work and become his scapegoat.
