Backyard Goldmine, hosted by Ben Sargent who is on a mission to convert other people's broken sheds, dilapidated barns and dismal outbuildings into rental wonders. Backyard eyesores are transformed into valuable assets as ugly transitions to fabulous. Buildings which once caused embarrassment, become an invaluable source of second income.
Ben Sargent is headed to Burlington, Vermont, to meet the Brandt Family. Artist Maea and tennis coach Rob live with their two young daughters in Burlington Center. The Brandts would like Ben and his build team to renovate their 100-year-old carriage barn into a part-time family play space, part-time rustic rental property.
Ben and the crew head to the mountains of Montgomery, Vermont, to check out a ski shed that a family wants to transform into a boutique-style rental for visitors. The team insulates the space for four-season comfort and adds a bathroom, kitchenette and a surprise creation from Ben.
A couple in the storybook village of Richmond, Vermont, want to get Ben and Lee's thoughts on their run-down storage shed before they tear it down. After clearing out the space, Ben sees an opportunity to transform the space into rustic rental complete with a cozy sleeping loft and vintage kitchen.
A client asks Ben Sargent to restore a dilapidated caboose to its original glory. Ben thinks the turn-of-the-century-caboose will make a mint as a one-of-a-kind rental but finishing on time and budget will be difficult for his crew.
Ben Sargent heads to the tiny town of Wardsboro, Vermont, to turn his good friends' 1800s barn into a decadent entertaining space and a first-class rental to take advantage of the snowmobile vacationers who come to the area.
A Burlington, Vermont, couple hires Ben to transform the top floor of their century-old barn into a retreat for family and potential renters. Ben and his team get to work building a bed nook and a spa-like area with a clawfoot tub, but the crew must work quickly to avoid disaster when a structural beam under them almost gives way.
