Series following competitors at country shows and fairs in Ireland.
Beidh Aonach Amárach is at the 2021 Balmoral Show. We meet competitor and former rugby star Rory Best as he shows his pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle, with help from his father John and son Ben. Aoife Chambers makes the long journey from Newport, County Mayo, to compete with her beautiful cob Black Betty, while Joseph Mangan and family head to Balmoral for the day. And keen gardeners Paula and Brendan Kerr pick up tips and tricks at the horticultural marquees.
Geraldine Murray has whipped up some of her famous jams and baked goods for this year's Meenacross Show. However, this year the show is a little bit different - it's all virtual! However, that won't stop young sheep farmer Shaun Doohan or horse jumper Aoibhinn Ní Bhaoill, while Angela Ní Bhaoill will also be competing with her veg. We hear from the Meenacross committee on what it's like to have a virtual show and what it means for the long-standing agricultural show.
In Charlestown, County Mayo, Myles Leonard is organising the first Irish Kennel Club Dog Show since the pandemic started. Caitlín Nic Aoidh, with her water spaniel Muirígh, enters the dog show for the first time after a short lesson from dog expert Stephanie Walsh. We enjoy the craftsmanship of stone mason Gearóid Sweeney on Arranmore and learn gardening tips from horticulturist Cian Bairéad in Rosmuc.
