The series follows the team as they navigate life after the tragic police killing of Floyd, a milestone event in American history that set off a national movement for social justice and police reform. Despite their differences, the officers and students find common ground on the field and kinship in the drive to win a state championship, establishing what they believe is a safe harbor from the violence and civil unrest of their community. As players and coaches return to the field with visions of championship glory, their sense of normalcy and optimism are tested like never before.
In the wake of George Floyd's murder, tensions run high in Minneapolis; at North High School, football coaches are working endlessly to earn a championship and keep their kids safe; they're all police officers.
The North High Polars try to redeem themselves after a heartbreaking loss; an upcoming vote threatens to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department; the season hangs by a thread; the coaches must stage a comeback on multiple fronts.
Football and election season become intertwined as North High marches toward the championship and the coaches go on the offensive to defeat a vote to defund the Minneapolis Police department. As violence continues to rock North Minneapolis, all eyes are on Election Day and the impending State Tournament.
With the regular season and election behind them, it's win or go home for the Polars in the State Tournament. As the team looks toward a seemingly bright future, horrific tragedy strikes the North Minneapolis community, leaving the neighborhood searching for answers. Series finale.
