Season 2 / Episode 7 and airs on 31 May 2026 06:00
The Assembly will see celebrities being questioned by a remarkable group of inquisitive interviewers who are autistic, neurodivergent and/or learning disabled. Each episode of The Assembly sees a different celebrity forced to cast aside everything they were ever taught by their media trainers as they face their most honest, funny, chaotic – and heartwarming – interview yet.
Actor and comedian Lenny Henry faces a panel of autistic, neurodivergent and learning-disabled interviewers, who ask questions about relationships, legacy and the moments that have defined him. Henry reflects on growing up in Britain during a time of overt racism, the impact of Comic Relief, and the difficult choices he has had to forgive himself for, and opens up about family, identity and the discovery that his uncle was in fact his biological father, as well as the loss of his mother and the grief that followed.
Actress Anna Maxwell Martin faces a panel of autistic, neurodivergent and learning-disabled interviewers. As the questions come thick and fast, she opens up about grief, motherhood and how her children coped after the death of their father, and also reflects on bullying in the industry, sensory issues and the acting skills she's used to get herself out of trouble.
Rapper Aitch faces autistic, neurodivergent and learning-disabled interviewers, opening up about fame, identity and the nuances of being white in a typically black music genre. As the questions come thick and fast, Aitch reflects on his lyrics and the language he used early in his career, admitting he felt pressure to say certain things as a young rapper - and that he got it wrong.
Radio and TV presenter Rylan is quizzed by an audience of inquisitive individuals who are autistic, neurodivergent or learning disabled. He opens up about infidelity, heartbreak, estrangement from his father and the breakdown that forced him to take life day by day. Along the way there are huge laughs, unexpected tangents and moments of real vulnerability.
Out-takes from the second run of the show that features celebrity interviews by neurodivergent individuals, with Stephen Fry, Nicola Sturgeon, Lenny Henry, Anna Maxwell Martin, Aitch and Rylan facing the grilling of a lifetime.
