High school sweethearts and married couple, Daphne Reckert and Ian Figueira, will abandon their plans of living in a California tiny home when Daphne inherits her late grandfather's 500-year-old chateau on a 130-acre estate just outside of Paris, France.While the main floor of the sprawling property—which once welcomed guests like King Louis XIII— provides a steady income stream hosting weddings, the young couple will take on the incredibly daunting task of restoring the remaining dilapidated floors and buildings on the grounds, utilizing their carpentry, conservation and landscaping expertise, as well as their families' backgrounds in construction, design and renovation. With passion, determination and grit, Daphne and Ian will confront budget constraints, battle bug infestations, hunt for rumored hidden treasure and tackle a seemingly endless list of projects head-on to breathe new life into the historic estate and preserve her grandfather's legacy.
Daphne and Ian take on their first renovation in the castle as they plan to transform the bell tower into a luxury bedroom suite. The tower's in a ruined state and rotten roof beams and a windstorm could turn this project into a catastrophe.
Daphne and Ian aim to transform a 300-year-old outbuilding into a luxury home, and the kitchen needs a major overhaul. Daphne looks to create an open plan space, but when the kitchen cabinets are canceled, the project may be doomed before it even begins.
After completing their new bedroom in the Bell Tower, Daphne and Ian look to create a much needed bathroom. Now, the couple decides to take on a water-damaged room, with no existing plumbing, and turn it into a bathing chamber worthy of royalty.
Daphne and Ian plan to build on the existing wedding business her grandfather started, and the restoration of the castle depends on their bookings. Now, they hope to gain an edge by creating an impressive office and cozy sitting room to host clients.
Daphne and Ian take on the Hunters Lodge,a cottage that her grandfather used as his home; their plan is create a bright and luxurious bedroom suite not just for themselves,but an enticing space for brides and grooms to occupy on their wedding night.
To continue their builds for ongoing chateau renovations, Daphne and Ian realize they need a dedicated workspace; they aim to transform one of the 28 horse stables into a workshop, but piled high with rubbish, it can be a big and costly renovation.
The chateau is the ultimate playground on 150 acres with a moat, dungeons and endless rooms, but it's not exactly kid friendly; Daphne and Ian set out to make over the existing playroom fit for the little princes and princesses who visit the castle.
Daphne and Ian look to reinstate one of the original chateau bedrooms that once hosted real Kings and Queens of France.
