City officials in New Orleans say a vehicle plowed into a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens more. A witness said they saw a truck going at a high speed. CBS News' Kati Weis has more. Many in Puerto Rico started 2025 without electricity as the local power company said it could take another day to turn the power back on after a blackout impacted most of the island. The FBI says it found more than 150 pipe bombs in a raid on a Virginia farm. Investigators say Brad Spafford was arrested after a tip that he was stockpiling weapons. It is the largest seizure of its kind.
Investigators are questioning those who knew the New Orleans attacker, in search of possible accomplices. No arrests have been made, though, as the FBI and local law enforcement continue their investigation. CBS News' Nicole Sganga has the latest. A Tesla Cybertruck explosion just outside of Trump hotel in Las Vegas is being investigated as a possible act of terrorism. One person inside the vehicle was killed and seven others nearby were injured. This year, a new spending cap on medication goes into effect for the first time for people on Medicare. CBS News medical contributor Dr. Celine Gounder explains its impact. A father of two and a teenager are among the victims in the attack in New Orleans where a man drove a truck into a crowd of people, killing at least 15. CBS News' Omar Villafranca has more on the victims. Dr. Jeffrey Elder, chief medical officer at University Medical Center in New Orleans, speaks to "CBS Mornings" about the conditions of survivors of the vehicle attack and how the hospital became a reunification center. The global skincare industry is projected to be worth more than $260 billion by 2027. Dr. Rachel Nazarian, a board-certified dermatologist, talks to "CBS Mornings" about how to optimize your routine this year. Several federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, continue to investigate the deadly truck attack in New Orleans. CBS News national security contributor Sam Vinograd breaks down how the agencies will proceed. From the stock market to inflation, CBS News MoneyWatch correspondent Kelly O'Grady looks back on some of the big financial stories of 2024 and what to expect in 2025.
Homeland Security Chair Mark Green joins "CBS Mornings" to talk about the New Year's Day attack in New Orleans, where an ISIS-inspired driver killed 14 and injured dozens before being killed by police. Jimmy Carter, the nation's 39th president, will be remembered in services beginning tomorrow. His grandson Jason Carter joins to discuss the late president's remarkable life and legacy. A new Congress is set to be sworn in on Friday and the House will vote for its speaker as one of its first orders of business. Current Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has worked to shore up support as the GOP narrowly holds control. Known for his Emmy-winning role in "Heartstopper" and playing young Elton John in "Rocketman," Kit Connor now stars as Romeo in a bold, contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's iconic play.
