Friends and fellow tinkerers Sir David Jason and Jay Blades are at the Midlands Air Festival, where they hope to meet and help passionate tinkerers and crafters.

Amateur automata maker Becky arrives at the Toolshed hoping to learn how to make her creations move more elaborately. Automata expert Chris Margett works with Becky and teaches her how to motorise her sculptures.

Friends and aviation enthusiasts Darren and Daren have turned their upcycling hobby into their occupation. They reveal some of their creations, which have been made by transforming old plane parts into pieces of art, and teach David and Jay the importance of polishing.

Finally, David and Jay head to the Midlands Air Museum to meet with 94-year-old Gordon, a true tinkerer and a volunteer at the museum who works six days a week restoring and maintaining the aircraft on display.

First they meet with Steve, who has brought along a 1948 bus that he has lovingly restored. Hoping to learn how to make a traditional sign, he is partnered up with expert signwriter Kerri Williams, who is excited to help add stunning artwork to the back of his bus.

Meanwhile, David and Jay head off to meet another Steve who has been restoring old BBC outside broadcast trucks. They take a tour of the truck and learn about the importance of saving these vehicles.

Retired doctor Becky shares her passion for basket weaving. Becky reveals that she would love to learn how to improve her baskets, and David and Jay introduce her to expert basket maker Helen. They work together to troubleshoot the cause of Becky's basket making woes and fix some bad habits.

Meanwhile, David and Jay head to the harbour to meet with a local rowing group who want to share their boat that they have made. And finally, the pair head to the nearby village of Cullen to meet Craig, a traditional cooper. He chats about his craft and demonstrates how a barrel is made - before Jay is challenged to have a go himself.

They meet motorhead Lee, who has brought along a beautiful VW camper van that she has lovingly restored. She hopes to learn some upholstery skills so that the interior of her camper van looks as good as the exterior. Expert Leigh-Anne is confident she can teach Lee some essential skills.

Meanwhile, David and Jay head off to meet talented amateur bag maker Trimmell. Trimmell hopes to learn some blacksmithing skills, and pro blacksmith Charis gives him a crash course in blacksmithing.

Finally, the pair meet Kevin Nicks, who has brought a selection of amazing machines to show David and Jay such as Britain's fastest shed, the world's longest mobility scooter, the world's fastest wheelbarrow and a motorised armchair, which David takes off in.
