When Roland's wife Emma leaves him with their teenage daughter Mia who barely notices him and Beattie, the dog he never wanted in the first place, he's determined to cope brilliantly. But when Beattie disappears and turns up at the local dog park, Roland meets the unbearably optimistic Samantha and her mismatched, life-loving group of dog-parkers. As Roland begrudgingly keeps returning to the park, he comes to realise he might actually need a community to belong to.
With his wife overseas for work, Roland is left to take care of the dog he never wanted and soon finds himself adopted by an eclectic pack of dog-tragics.
Roland tries to guide his daughter Mia through a breakup while facing his own crumbling relationship, and he gets roped into celebrating Farty Marty's 12th Birthday.
Roland and Emma finally confront their future and Roland contemplates a new life as a man living alone with his dog.
Roland decides to give Beattie away. When Spike goes missing, Roland is roped in to search and he witnesses the kindness of the dog park community.
When Penny announces Farty Marty has to be put down, Roland and the Divas do their best to make his last day a special one.
It's the day of Samantha and Steve's wedding. Roland is thrilled to have Mia home again but distracted by his growing feelings for Samantha.
