Karl, Elaine's ex-boyfriend, comes to stay and Tom finds it hard not to be jealous - especially since everyone is swooning at Karl's magnificent chin.

Tom hates his family's dependence on gadgets, and hides them so that they start using their imaginations more. The family are all furious at the decision.

The balance of the Whyte family household is rocked when Elaine makes the surprise announcement that she thinks she might be pregnant.
