Friday night. 7pm. Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn't left the house in six months after a ‘wobble', and Film Club is her escape. A weekly chance to create a world of wonder, deck the garage out in whatever the movie calls for and spend a few uninterrupted hours with Noa - her best friend and one of the few mates who still shows up.But tonight, things are different. Noa's got big news. A dream job is taking him across the other side of the country, which means that all of this is ending. That reality is hitting. That they're going to be forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends. Neither of them are the best when it comes to emotions but this time those emotions might be impossible to ignore.As if life weren't challenging enough already, Evie is going to be navigating this amongst the eccentricity of her family home - living with her fiercely loving single mum Suz, sister Izzie, and handsome boyfriend/sometime man of the house Josh.
Best friends Evie and Noa have watched films together since they first met at university. Eight years on, Evie isn't coping with life anymore, so she's moved back home to live with her mum, Suz, and sister Izzie in the Manchester suburbs.
Film Club's moved with Evie – to Suz's garage. Unable to face the world outside and trapped at home with little else to occupy her, Evie pours all her creativity into decorating the space beautifully to reflect the movie they're watching every week and making herself the perfect costume.
But a change on the horizon is bringing up newfound feelings for Evie and Noa. Or feelings they've never admitted to themselves or each other…
While Noa attends a taster day for his new job in Bristol, Evie pulls out all the stops for Film Club – there's a lot riding on tonight.
Evie's still reeling from the message she saw on Noa's phone. But when the two are left alone together, something extraordinary happens. Is it the start of a new journey for Evie?
While Evie throws herself headlong at life, Suz and Josh worry it's too much, too soon. Meanwhile, Noa realises he has to face up to his feelings...
Her world rocked, Evie has retreated to the safety of the garage. But with a new understanding, Suz and Izzie create a unique version of Film Club to bring back Evie's smile.
Noa didn't want a big goodbye, but now the day's finally come for him to leave, will Evie let him go that easily? It's not the only big decision she has to face...
