Next Episode of Harpoon Hunters is
unknown.
Each summer on Cape Cod, multi-generational fishing families race against the clock - and each other - to catch highly valuable Atlantic bluefin tuna using only 10-foot electrified spears. Time is of the essence as harpoon boats only have four weeks to catch as many fish as they can before the overall limit is met. With fish worth as much as $10K each, stakes are high for these expert fishermen to make ends meet for their families and beat the competition to take home these prize fish.
Four harpooners chase some of the world's highest-priced fish using only fast boats and expert aim. Niko must prove he can run a legendary boat while Joe hunts to support his family as the fleet races to land the first monster bluefin worth thousands.
Captains Joe and Tyler hit bluefin gold as second-generation harpooner Niko Chaprales fails to land even one. Feeling pressure to live up to his famous father's legacy, strongman Niko changes tactics in hopes of earning a big first payday of the season.
Captain Joe Dion takes his sons to sea, landing two massive bluefin and witnessing a great white shark feeding on a humpback whale. Dylan's son Emmett earns his first harpoon attempt while Niko hunts the season's biggest bluefin thus far, worth $10,000.
As the fleet spots the first giants, Joe fights for his lead over Niko & Tyler but all bets are off as old-timer Bill joins the derby. Emmett struggles with the choice to fish without a plane. When Dylan gets a $6K tuna, holding onto it is another matter.
As the bluefin fishery reaches its mid-season peak, three centuries-old fishing strategies compete for dominance. Joe banks on instinct, Tyler uses science to gain the upper hand, and strongman Niko relies on legacy -- but nobody relies solely on luck.
With the advantage of spotter planes, veteran Tyler and young gun Joe battle for the most monster bluefin until Joe helps strongman Niko get back into contention. But when Niko's zapper fails at the worst possible moment, Tyler steps in to save the day.
As the giant bluefin gorge themselves on schools of fatty baitfish, captains battle to capture oversized "quota-killer" tuna. Young gun Joe scores a rare hat trick, landing three in a day, while veteran Tyler struggles with both science and technology.
With less than a quarter of the bluefin quota still available to catch, a change in weather forces captains to shift their strategy. As Tyler quickly scores three big fish, Joe takes to the air -- he spots a lone tuna, then races to find it at sea.
Captains Joe and Tyler are in a heated battle in the season finale. Fighting for the top spot, dark horse Niko spots a chance to steal the lead. With the biggest catches of the season yet to come, it all comes down to the final weigh-ins at the dock.
