Nazi diehard and fanatics fight to the last man to stop Allied forces from freeing Europe, keeping an unrelenting grip on the naval bases, citadels and fortresses of occupied Europe.
As Allied forces fight to break out from the D-Day beaches, American Captain Matt Urban is badly wounded in a German tank assault. But determined to return to his battalion, he makes it to the front, climbs aboard a Sherman, and leads a daring charge through hedgerow country. Outgunned and injured, he rallies his men to heroically drive the attack.
While trying to take a ridge held by German troops, the legendary Canadian regiment known as The Black Watch suffers devastating losses. Outgunned and cut off from command, a ragged band of survivors make their desperate last stand in a nearby farmhouse, fighting to survive what is ultimately the bloodiest day of the war since Dieppe.
In August 1944, as Allied forces push east from Normandy, a British battalion encounters fierce German resistance while trying to cross the Seine River. With bridges destroyed and no tank support in sight, they must fight to secure a critical bridgehead and continue their advance. On a ridge above the river, a single major's actions may determine whether their position holds or collapses under a German counterattack.
With US Medics unable to rescue seven casualties because of heavy fire, Technical Sergeant Stephen Gregg retrieves a .30 calibre machine gun and advances, firing from the hip to protect them. After the Medic pulls the last casualty to safety, Gregg runs out of ammunition and is captured by German soldiers. He must find a way to escape.
During Operation Market Garden, paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne race to seize the vital bridges at Nijmegen. As savage street fighting erupts, German counterattacks close-in on lightly defended landing zones—putting inbound gliders, vital reinforcements and the entire Allied plan at risk.
An isolated American battalion fights to hold a vital mountain stronghold in Italy, known as "Battle Mountain". But the Germans won't give it up without a fight; with artillery and infantry hammering their positions, US troops hole up in a decaying castle on the summit, relying on individual acts of bravery to keep the enemy from overrunning them.
On his first day of command, American Colonel George Mabry leads a broken battalion through the unforgiving Hurtgen Forest, to take the Roer River dams before the Nazis flood the area. The mission will take them through booby traps, minefields, bunkers, and enemy ambushes, as they fight one of the most gruelling battlefields of World War 2
As the war nears its end, an unorthodox, top secret commando unit launches a nighttime raid on a shallow lake in Northern Italy, to divert German forces from the next major Allied offensive. Led by Danish Major Anders Lassen — a fearless, hard-drinking brawler with an amphetamine addiction — they find themselves pinned down in unforgiving terrain, and must push through murderous German opposition, while the fate of the entire Allied assault hangs in the balance.
