"Ice Lake Rebels" - The freeze and thaw periods are the two most deadly times of the year on Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories in Canada. This series follows a handful of survivalists as they hunt for food, drill for water, trade for necessities and protect their turf. It's a lawless frozen lake of ultra-libertarians forced together during brutal winters. Choosing another kind of lifestyle, these rebels – families, couples and singles – have said goodbye to living life the conventional way on land and taken to floating homes and houseboats… Since they don't live on land, they don't pay taxes, and, therefore, no one polices them. The very things that we take for granted – from opening the front door to walking your pet to shopping for groceries and supplies – are incredibly difficult to navigate. As one rebel says, "It's not man you have to worry about; it's woman – Mother Nature.
The community battles a brutal polar freeze; Stephan and Allyce try to save their aging boat; Pike Mike fights the glacial winds; newcomers Kyle and Peyton rush to construct their home; Gary's daughter's barge is sinking.
Major decisions must be made when the lake freezes solid; Stephan and Allyce sacrifice community for a bigger home; Kyle and Peyton can't move their new barge; lost visitor plunges Ragnar into the arctic tundra to save a life.
Stephan and Allyce's isolated cabin makes their dog Dora an easy target for nearby wolves; Kyle and Peyton must try a new tactic to stay warm as subzero weather pounds their psuedo-ten; Pike Mike takes living off-the-grid to a whole new level.
Kyle and Peyton discover new ways to cure meat and preserve a hide from native teachings; Molly builds a water pump so she doesn't have to drill; Stephan and Allyce find that their lake is contaminated.
Pike Mike's lifestyle is threatened by few fish and a new neighbor; Molly installs a wind turbine in an ice storm; Ragnar unearths Arctic diamonds from a secret location.
Melting lake is causing perilous situations; Stephan's trek on ice becomes slushy; Kyle and Peyton rush to save their boat; Pike Mike gets injured while isolated deep in the woods.
With spring's arrival, the house boaters reflect on six months' of harsh winter. Pike Mike tries to move back to Great Slave Lake. Stephan & Allyce explore the wilderness near their new home & Henry needs help to recover from major heart surgery.
