A school outing turns into a nightmare. Six-year-old Emma has disappeared into the forest. A search party is immediately organized. Then, as if by magic, Emma reappears. Everyone seems relieved, except that now her teacher, Jade, who went looking for her, is missing.
Emma, a lively and precocious six-year-old girl, mysteriously disappears during a school trip to the forest. Her mother, Camille, arrives at the scene. The teachers and the police are worried, but Emma quickly reappears. She is wearing the scarf of her teacher, Jade, who has now vanished. Back home, and under pressure from the police and the villagers, her parents cling to the image of the child as a victim, until a new clue makes Camille doubt her story...
With Jade still missing, tensions are rising in the village. Emma, watched by her parents, Camille and Fabien, is the target of all sorts of rumors. As a new search party is organized deep in the forest, in which Jade's father, Yvan, participates, everyone wonders what could have happened. Meanwhile, Camille is consumed by worry about her daughter's possible involvement in this terrible affair. This growing doubt begins to strain the relationship between Fabien and Camille...
Does Camille also have something to hide? The investigation intensifies after the discovery of Jade's body at the bottom of a hole deep in the forest, prompting the police to search and question Camille, Fabien, and Emma. Tensions erupt as buried secrets threaten to resurface and pressure mounts on the family, whose behavior is raising eyebrows. Little by little, every member of the village becomes a suspect, and doubt creeps in everywhere. In the dead of night, Yvan kidnaps little Emma.
