JK

“JK” was a romantic drama and biography of the life of the former President of Brazil Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira. He was the 24th president ever for the country of Brazil and ruled from 31 January 1956 to 31 January 1961. He was one of the most popular political figures ever in Brazil and most say the best President ever elected in that country's history. He was instrumental in moving the capital of the country from Rio de Janerio to Brasilia. Even though he was married during his term in office he was still considered a womanizer. During his term he turned his country's main resources and production from agriculture to industry. He also is blamed for the country's currency being devalued several different times and raising inflation. The country also went into debt during his presidency.

The mini-series "JK" mostly surrounds his playboy life of luxury and exotic women. The story focuses mostly on his love-life overall and is considered by some as being a little too soft-core pornographic. In 1964 the Military staged a coup under the new President of the country Janio Quadros and overthrew him.

His power was completely stripped and the Military suspended the political rights earned by him and Juscelino Kubitschek both for 10 years. Juscelino then decided to go into a self-imposed exile from his country moving around quite often between the US and Europe. He returned permanently to Brazil in 1967 and on 22 August 1976 he was killed in an automobile accident.
