Halit attends the best schools and takes advantage of the family's resources. He becomes both the country's most successful lawyer and its most promiscuous bachelor. Seniha, however, sinks deeper and deeper into the depths of her sense of worthlessness. She never finished school, never married, and has practically become a servant in her own home.
