Salam aleikum! And what about drinking a cup of Crimean Tatar coffee… on the Moon? That's where Ms. Torbynka, the owner of the first Crimean Tatar coffee shop in space, invites us. She embarks on a journey through the centuries to tell us how coffee got to Crimea and why it became such an important part of Crimean Tatar culture. We'll learn: how coffee beans traveled from Ethiopia through Yemen, the Ottoman Empire, and the Black Sea to Crimea; why a degirmen is needed — a special copper coffee grinder; why Crimean Tatar coffee was brewed in a cezve on hot sand; what are syutlyu havey, kara havey, and saba haveysy; why sugar was not added to traditional coffee and what is bekmez for; how a few coffee beans could preserve the memory of home even far from Crimea; and what are hoshkeldy havesy and kozaydin havesy - coffee of meeting and coffee of good news.
Do you like to dance? Then we invite you to a Crimean Tatar wedding! You can't do without dancing here, and at the center of the holiday is Agir ava ve Khaytarma, a traditional dance of the Crimean Tatars, in which each movement has its own character, and each melody has its own story. Together with the heroes of the "Book of Journeys", we go on a journey through the wedding traditions of Crimea and find out: what does the strange name "Agir ava ve Khaytarma" mean; why once men and women danced in different rooms; why there was a thin veil between the bride and groom - and why today it can be replaced by a phone screen; how many melodies of Khaytarma exist and how do they differ; what role does the saz play in this story. And we will also learn why in 2024 Agir ava ve Khaytarma was included in the National List of Elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. From wedding ceremonies of the past to modern scenes — Agir ava ve Khaytarma continues to live, unite generations and tell the history of the Crimean Tatar people in the language of music and movement.
