Dreams of living on the dock of the bay can come true, even on the tightest budget. We show home seekers how to find the lakefront property of their dreams without breaking the bank. Mark and Dorena are avid sailors from Chaumont, New York and have two kids. While they love living in the village of Chaumont, they really want a place right on the water closer to their yacht club. With the help of real estate agent, Amanda Miller, they hope to find the perfect waterfront cottage on Lake Ontario for only $250,000.
Jenny and Brett have lived with their children in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, for over a decade. With Brett's rotating work schedule it can be tough to plan a weekend trip, so they're looking to relocate to a permanent lake lifestyle in Polk County, Wisconsin. Located about 75 miles northeast of the Twin Cities, Polk County is the perfect rural location offering Jenny and Brett the wilderness wonderland they've been searching for. With the help of local real estate agent, Patti Katzmark, Jenny and Brett hope to hunt down a heck of a deal for under $360,000.
Herman and Susan live in Louisburg, Kansas with their two children, Mandy and Herman IV. They've been vacationing on the Lake of the Ozarks since 1997 and even bought a home there in 2007. But when the family realized they wanted to live in a more central location, closer to friends and all the lake action, they sold it. Now, Herman and Susan want to not only find a new home near the Hurricane Deck Bridge, but a property that has deep enough water and enough storage space for a brand new boat they plan to buy once their search is complete. With the help of real estate agent, Terry Summers, Herman and Susan hope to find a lakefront family getaway for $225,000 or less, because spending any more would cut into the boat budget and that's just not an option.
Sisters Gretchen and Natalie live with their families a couple of miles apart in San Diego, California. Despite residing in the same city, it can be hard to find time to spend time together, so they're craving a cabin to cozy up in on Big Bear Lake. Located just two and a half hours away, the area is a year-round recreational paradise, providing a unique mountain resort experience fit for the whole family. With the help of local real estate agent, Joe Kovich, these two families will search for a home with the bare necessities for under $350,000.
