Expert fisherman Carter Andrews sets out to catch the mysterious, dangerous and treacherous fish that have fascinated and terrorized humankind for the entirety of its existence.
Carter journeys deep into the South American rainforest of Peru to track and catch the legendary arapaima, an apex predator and prehistoric jungle fish that can reach weights of over 300 pounds. Carter will have to dodge snakes, piranhas and the constant threat of violent storms while tracking this elusive giant.
Carter braves the oceans of the North Atlantic to fish for one of the largest and fastest creatures in the sea, the bluefin tuna. Traveling to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Carter is intent on catching an over 1,000-pound bluefin, a species previously overfished. Yet, fishing experts have indicated their comeback, leading Carter to trace leads to see if these legends are still out there.
In one of Carter's most ambitious adventures yet, he travels across the Atlantic to hot spots in search of the rare 1,000-pound blue marlin, also known as a "grander." This iconic fish is the ultimate catch for an angler, and hooking a grander is considered one of the most difficult fishing challenges in serious angling circles. Catching this fish will require every ounce of Carter's skill.
Carter Andrews travels to America's Gulf Coast to search for legendary alligator gar, which reach lengths of 10 feet and weights of over 300 pounds. Starting his journey in Louisiana, Carter tracks down some legends said to haunt the rivers and learns there's much more than meets the eye to these prehistoric fish. Following leads from Cajun Country into Texas, Carter searches for giant gar.
